The 2011 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships began Monday in Montpellier, France. As with artistic gymnastics, this year’s World Championships are a qualifying event for London 2012.
Reigning Olympic Champion and two-time defending World Champion Evegenia Kanaeva took gold in the hoop and ball apparatus finals yesterday. Her Russian teammate, Daria Kondakova, won silver on both events. Clubs and ribbon finals are today and the all around competition begins tomorrow.
FIG is posting videos of qualifications on YouTube. As of yet, I haven’t seen videos of the actual finals performances.
