Wow. It’s in a Children’s Museum? I feel kind of sad looking at that. I kind of thought it was a museum or library or depository of some kind.

Yes, the IGHOF is an exhibit in the Science Museum Oklahoma. I definitely felt weird showing up without any children! I thought there would be a substantial library too. And I certainly thought the exhibit would be dynamic than it was. I hope they consider some of my suggestions!
I would love to see the uniform or grips worn by a gymnast when they won a major event. Even if it was not a permanent exhibit, I would check it out. Perhaps even offering online access to special exhibits like that. Also I would love to see a side by side example of how the balance beam has changed (or vault) over the years. This too could tie in the literature surrounding the changes the apparatus has seen in the sport. We have some fantastic people in the gymnastics community (the amazing Jerry George) who has studied the bio mechanics of gymnastics in depth.. I’d love to see more information from people like him incorporated into a gymnastics museum. Plus…..as a former gymnast I always get asked by non-gymnastics people questions about the beam or vault and why it looks different than it did years ago. Ex: the new “tongue” vault vs the old one.
Or the classic question “how do you do those flips”?? Heck the videos circulating giving the viewer a feel of what its like to do a double back using a head cam is fantastic for non-gymnasts to get a sense of what a gymnast sees. Sorry for my rambling.. just brainstorming. So excited you sent them a letter. I’m an old fan of International Gymnast but over the years I haven’t been so thrilled by the magazine or the museum concept.
