America’s best figure skaters competed this week in San Jose at the 2012 US Figure Skating Championships. The competition decided not only the national champions but also those who will represent USA at the the 2012 ISU World Figure Skating Championships.
I don’t usually write about figure skating but I love to watch American duo and 2011 World Ice Dance Champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White. As expected, they delivered an exquisite and spectacular performance at Championships, winning their fourth consecutive national title.
With a brilliantly choreographed free skate to Swan Lake, Ashley Wagner won gold in ladies singles.
Jeremy Abbott won his third US title in men’s singles and Caydee Denney and John Coughlin won pairs.

Just wanted to make sure a couple of notes got put with this
Denny has won Nationals, but not with Coughlin. Coughlin has won nationals, but not with Denny. Marley has only been skating pairs at the senior level, or well, for that matter at all for almost 2 years now, just barely. Brubaker, has two national titles under his belt…It’s just crazy!
1) don’t look at Nationals scores and compare them to say Europeans or Worlds. Nationals scores, if you didn’t know are inflated, especially in Figure Skating (look at Chan last week winning Canadian nationals with a score of over 300)
2) Our US pairs are amusing
Thanks for your insight into figure skating!
